Pack your binoculars and break out the cargo pants, because we’re off to Africa on a luxurious all-gay Kenyan safari!
To whet your appetite, here are eight highlights of what awaits!
8. Experience Kenya
Kenya will act as the backdrop of this once-in-a-lifetime expedition. Imagine endless savannahs, dense forests, soaring mountains and the unique culture of the Batu, Nilotic and Hamitic tribes.
7. Eat Locally
A surprising highlight of our all-gay safari will revolve around meals. Between daily game drives we’ll return to our luxurious lodgings (See #6) for inspired dining experiences. The mane event will be a uniquely Kenyan Bush Barbecue that will act as our farewell dinner.
6. Wake up to Toto’s Africa
While you’ll be exploring Africa’s rugged terrain by day, you’ll be slumbering in some of the country’s most luxurious lodgings by night. Don’t believe us? Check out the sublime hotels and sensational safari tents you’ll enjoy on tour on the tour page!
5. Cruise Lake Naivasha
On Day 4 we’ll break up our usual game drives with an hour-long cruise across Lake Naivasha. The fresh-water lake is home to the world’s largest population of flamingo. Not to mention, sizeable populations of hippo and crocodile. Don’t fall in!
4. Dust Off Your Binoculars
Lions and leopards may be the poster children of our gay safari, but they aren’t the only players. In fact, Kenya’s feathered fauna will be key to this ensemble production. Flock to the rivers and lakes to spot ample pelicans, kingfishers, hammerkops and the aforementioned flamingos. In Amboseli National Park over 600 species of birdlife will flit and flutter. And lest we forget the ostriches sprinting Kenya’s savannahs!
3. Photograph the Big Five
So named for their difficulty to hunt on foot, the Big Five include the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo. These notorious mammals demand respect – and at least a third of your camera’s memory card.
2. Revel in the Natural Beauty
From the snowy heights of Mount Kenya, to the rushing depths of Great Rift Valley, Kenya’s National Parks are a photographer’s fodder. In fact, Kenya’s parks are so inspiring, Disney Animation Studios flew its design team here before sketching box-office behemoth, The Lion King.
1. Witness the Great Wildebeest Migration
Ranked one of the natural world’s greatest wonders, this shocking journey sees over two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle travel extraordinary lengths in search of greener pastures. The vast majority of the migration takes place between Tanzania and Kenya throughout the Serengeti and Masai Mara National Parks. July and August are considered the best months to wallow in this wonder, coincidentally aligning perfectly with our gay safari. Cameras at the ready!
