This all-gay Icelandic escape makes the most of the island nation’s winter season. Travellers explore the snowy countryside on a Golden Circle tour with stops at Gullfoss Waterfall and the Great Geysir. They’ll surmount a glacier and even check out the frigid Black Sand Beaches. The tour heats up with a steamy dip in the Blue Lagoon. Perhaps most importantly, this escape includes a chance to check out The Northern Lights—one of travel’s great treats.
Can’t make it in March? Consider our Iceland: Countryside and Reykjavik Pride tour departing in August.
Halló! Welcome to Iceland. Today you’ll meet your fellow travellers, along with your local gay Iceland guide at approximately 5PM, before we ramble through Reykjavík by foot. We’ll then head out for an included welcome dinner at one the nation’s best restaurants. If the jet lag hasn’t yet dragged you down, we’ll then hit the town and throw it down.
Today begins bright and early with our south shore safari. In this magnificent part of Iceland we’ll encounter black sand beaches, mythical rock formations, wondrous waterfalls and many farms (where we may even get to meet some small but sensational Icelandic horses). We’ll even walk the famous Sólheimajökull Glacier. Please note: this can be a difficult activity for anyone with mobility issues. After our glacier trek we’ll check into our hotel for the evening, with dinner and local delicacies to kick off our stay. The rest of the night is yours to indulge in the hotel’s amazing hot tubs…and hopefully see the Northern Lights!
Today is devoted to a road trip along Iceland’s famous Golden Circle. You’ll see the massive rift between two tectonic plates that are literally pulling apart at Thingvellir National Park. You’ll be mesmerized by the magic and rage of Gullfoss Waterfall. And finally, we’ll visit the ‘Great Geysir’, the first geyser known to modern Europeans. We’ll then return to Reykjavík for an optional dinner, followed by an Icelandic house party…which is only a warm-up for a big night out on the town.
Sleep in and take it easy this morning. Before long, tour guide will bring you to the world famous Blue Lagoon so you can soak in the amazing indigo waters. This will be followed by a short tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, and a visit to a couple of geothermal hot spots. The day—and our journey—ends back in Reykjavík for a Farewell Dinner and another night on the town.
There are no activities planned today, so you are free to depart at your leisure.
